More skill and art subjects in basic education - Evaluation on the pre-primary and basic education curriculum system published (Media bulletin 23 Feb 2011)
Pupils and parents would like more time to be spent on skill and art subjects in basic education. Pupils crave teachers who are more inspiring and understanding towards them. Parents’ satisfaction with teaching decreases with each passing school year. They expect schools to provide a better partnership in children’s upbringing and reinforcement of pupils’ welfare. Parents want smaller class sizes.

  • The Finnish Education Evaluation Council serves as an expert body for educational evaluation in connection with the Ministry of Education and Culture.

  • The operations of the Council are prepared and organized by the Secretariat of the Finnish Education Evaluation Council, which is a separate institute within the University of Jyväskylä.
