Education Evaluation Council

The Finnish Education Evaluation Council serves as an expert body for educational evaluation in connection with the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The operations of the Evaluation Council are prepared and organized by the Evaluation Council Secretariat, which is operating as a separate institute within the University of Jyväskylä.
 

Tasks

  1. to assist the Ministry of Education and Culture and to support education providers in matters concerning educational evaluation
  2. to organise external evaluations of education as well as evaluations of the activities of education providers
  3. to develop external evaluation of education
  4. to co-operate with international stakeholders
 

Aims

  1. to gather and analyse information so as to provide a basis for national education policymaking and educational development
  2. to gather and analyse information so as to provide a basis for local efforts and decisionmaking on educational development
  3. to support students' learning, educators' work and schools development
 

Mission

The Council's task is to evaluate education and learning, to contribute to the development of external evaluation, and to co-operate with international stakeholders. Evaluation serves the needs of the Ministry of Education and Culture, education providers, and schools. The Council works as an expert network.
