Introduction

Education Evaluation Council

The Finnish Education Evaluation Council serves as an expert body for educational evaluation in connection with the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The operations of the Evaluation Council are prepared and organized by the Evaluation Council Secretariat, which is operating as a separate institute within the University of Jyväskylä.

Tasks

to assist the Ministry of Education and Culture and to support education providers in matters concerning educational evaluation
to organise external evaluations of education as well as evaluations of the activities of education providers
to develop external evaluation of education
to co-operate with international stakeholders

Aims

to gather and analyse information so as to provide a basis for national education policymaking and educational development
to gather and analyse information so as to provide a basis for local efforts and decisionmaking on educational development
to support students' learning, educators' work and schools development

Mission

The Council's task is to evaluate education and learning, to contribute to the development of external evaluation, and to co-operate with international stakeholders. Evaluation serves the needs of the Ministry of Education and Culture, education providers, and schools. The Council works as an expert network.
